As a Full Circle of Life Horse Shelter our goal is to rescue, shelter, and protect as many horses as we can, no matter what stage of life they are in. Through our grant and assistance programs we are able to provide a safety net and help a larger number of horses across the nation in an effort to keep horses out of the slaughter pipeline.

Available Assistance & Grants

These grants are designed to help horses and other equines on a global level, taking our efforts to rescue, shelter, and protect horses and other equines around the world. Applicants may apply for this grant & assistance at any time and the grant request will be considered for approval by our grant committee. Our goal is to approve as many grants as possible that directly impact the lives of horses and other equines. Global funding is available on a limited basis! Grant applications completed will be reviewed by our grant committee and a response will be emailed within a week of application submission. Assistance for
Horse Owners

We understand that there are times that a private horse owner needs a little help for their horse or other equine. Our assistance program helps horses or other equines receive gelding operations, humane euthanasia, and help with natural disaster situations. We do private equine owner assistance globally on a limited basis.

Gelding Stallions & Spaying Mares - Whether you have one stallion or a bunch of stallions that need to be gelded or a mare that needs spayed. Horse Plus Humane Society is here to help! Assistance is available of $100 per horse or other equine for the gelding or spaying operation. Assistance is paid directly to the veterinarian for the procedure.

Humane Euthanasia - If you have a horse or other equine that needs the Last Act of Kindness, we can help with financial assistance. Making this hard decision is difficult enough, but financial restraints can leave a horse suffering for months. Assistance is available of $150 per horse or other equine needing the Last Act of Kindness. Assistance is paid directly to the veterinarian for the procedure.

Any Application may be denied solely at the discretion of Horse Plus Humane Society without explanation. Grants and assistance are available as funds allow.

Other Grants

As of July 1, 2023 our grant department will be focusing on assisting 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations within the Full Circle of Life Horse Shelter Network, veterinarian equine welfare projects & International projects. We will no longer be routinely assisting independent 501c3 horse rescue organizations outside of the Full Circle of Life Horse Shelter Network. Organizations within this network have been thoroughly vetted by our organization and we know that grant funds will be used properly by organizations within the networks.

Grants are available for $100 per equine for gelding or spaying operations.

Humane Euthanasia & Last Act of Kindness Clinic Grants - Many nonprofit organizations are unable to rescue equines who need the Last Act of Kindness because they don't have the ability to take on the financial cost of humane euthanasia. Horse Plus Humane Society offers grants for humane euthanasia and hosting a euthanasia clinic for suffering horses. Grants are available for $150 per equine needing humane euthanasia. Euthanasia methods must be in compliance with AAEP.

Auction Rescues & Urgent Needs - This grant is designed to help organizations rescue horses out of the slaughter pipeline.
Grants are available on a limited basis for urgent need situations.

If you are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit horse rescue organization outside of the Full Circle of Life Horse Shelter Network you still can submit a grant application but funds are prioritized for organizations within the Full Circle of Life Horse Shelter Network.

A Full Circle of Life Horse Shelter helps horses in every stage of life regardless of their age, behavior, training, or medical problems. Having compassion for all horses, no matter what stage of life they are in, is extremely important. We help all horses in need - no matter what stage of life they are in. Now we are inspiring other organizations to do the same. Most horse rescue organizations focus on a particular stage of a horse's life, the most adoptable stage. That philosophy leaves many horses with no place to go and no help or resources for them: simply because they are in the wrong stage of life. The Full Circle of Life grant and mentoring will help the winning organization pilot this philosophy and the journey will be filmed for Season 4 of the reality TV show Horse Rescue Heroes.

Grants for Nonprofits

Rescuing equines as a nonprofit organization is financially draining. This can leave well-qualified organizations unable to help equines in desperate situations. Horse Plus Humane Society is dedicated to helping as many equines as possible, that includes helping equines by awarding grants to other equine welfare organizations. We award global grants to equines welfare groups on a limited basis.

Auction Rescue Grants - This grant helps nonprofit organizations by covering the direct cost of purchasing horses at slaughter auctions. This grant does not cover purchasing horses from, kill pans, kill buyer or horse traders. Outside of the United States, purchases at slaughterhouses is permitted. The goal is to save as many horses out of the slaughter pipeline as possible, and help nonprofit organizations with the initial cost (up to $500 per equine & up to 5 equines) by covering the cost of purchasing the horses. The nonprofit can focus on raising funds for the rescued horses quarantine, medical needs and sheltering.

Urgent Need Grants - This grant is intended to be utilized in a variety of circumstances to directly benefit equines in need, whether that be an individual horse or a herd. This grant is intended to help with intake cost of critical equines needing additional care, intake and sheltering cost involved with animal cruelty cases, natural disasters, etc. The amount of assistance for urgent need grants is determined on a case by case basis. Urgent Need Grants awarded to nonprofit organizations range from a hundred dollars to thousands of dollars.
